Lania D’Agostino & Jessy DeSantis

June 7th - July 31st

Delighted to announce our current art show, featuring the works of two Baltimore queer artists: Lania D’Agostino and Jessy DeSantis. This is a very special showcase, kicking off Pride month. Come and bring your friends and enjoy the beautiful and reflective works of these two talented artists.

Lania D’Agostino

Regeneration & Renewal

Lania D’Agostino approaches her paintings as a direct intuitional and spiritual journey. Many of the works presented in this show are influenced by the passing of her brother Woody, who died while out deer hunting on his property in Michigan in 2022.

The deer spirit animal is a symbol of nobility and benevolence. King of the forest, lord of the woods, majestic spirit, the deer is a powerful and graceful animal with a sensitive heart. Throughout the world and many traditions, these animals are admired and venerated. Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, in Greek mythology, is often accompanied by a doe or a deer.

Native American shamans regard the deer as a guide on the path of life. In the Celtic world, the deity Cernunnos symbolizes the stag with its antlers. The deer embodies fertility, gentleness and wisdom, independence and creativity. It is also a symbol of regeneration and renewal.

Jessy DeSantis

Raised in a Nicaraguan household in Miami, FL and now residing in Baltimore City, Jessy DeSantis is a self-taught artist creating meaningful, vibrant work. Their painting's stark contrast of vibrant color and white space draws the viewer into their subjects. They are inspired by their connection to nature, food, family, and their Central American roots.

Their paintings, often depicting birds, are more than just visually beautiful, many carry in them intention with a story to be told. They seek to pass on these stories of heritage and truth with all of its complexities to their children and future generations. The artist states that as they grow and evolve through life, that their art will evolve and shift with them. They are currently mastering the art of portraiture and storytelling through a cultural and historical lens.
