Days 23 - 28
The elimination of inflammatory and allergenic foods allows the whole body - nervous system, immune system, endocrine system, spirit - to heal. By “eating clean” the body has a much-needed opportunity to restore. During phase 2 you may have noticed that your sense of taste was heightened. Similarly, your body’s histamine response receives a tune up during the elimination phase. Thus, when you reintroduce a food that you are sensitive and/or allergic to your body will immediately let you know.
Should you choose to reintroduce foods that were on the elimination list, there is a carefully prescribed reintroduction. By reintroducing one food item at a time and waiting 2 days before introducing the next item, you will receive clear feedback from YOUR body. You will learn what supports and what compromises vitality. Then, you can incorporate your discoveries and practices into a renewed and more wholesome way of living.
Steps For Reintegrating Foods
- Decide which item/category you will reintroduce first, reintroducing only one item/ category at a time. For instance, if you choose to reintroduce dairy on day one of integration, then wait at least two days before reintroducing the next item.
- Food sensitivities can take up to three days to appear. Gradual reintroduction provides direct feedback on how a food impacts your body, mental clarity and emotions.
- Be a good scientist.
As you emerge from the cocoon, you are poised to re- enter life with greater clarity, deeper connection to the wisdom of your whole being and a cup full of healing practices to support the continued unfoldment of your spirit.
Having experienced different rituals, self-care practices and a fulfilling way of nourishing yourself, you will choose what you carry forward and what you leave behind. As the saying goes, “Take what you liked, and leave the rest.”
My hope is that while you may not continue to incorporate all of the daily practices, you will have learned how to listen to your deeper knowing and how to respond with care and kindness.
